The children are not aged segregated, we mingle and mix creating a more homely environment with a family feel.

This ‘Free Play System’ means that our children are not stuck in the same room all day, every day.

They access six themed areas of play choosing where they would like to spend their day, making decisions and choices about their development and the new skills they want to learn.

There are a wide range of well planned activities to engage and develop young minds as well as individual learning and development plans, that allow children to develop and progress naturally through the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) which is defined by the Department for Education (DFE).

Our classroom activities are based on the areas of learning and guidance provided by the DFE, children are supported to access everywhere during their day and skilled teaching practice ensures that the every child has a positive and rewarding time in each room.

  • The Imaginative Play Room - offering role play and open ended imaginative and creative opportunities. The Home corner, Drama Centre and Story Corner are the main focus of this classroom along with small world and construction equipment.
  • The Outdoor Play Area - all year round access whatever the weather, to fresh air and to let off a bit of steam! Wader suits are worn in wet weather and ski suits when its really cold.
  • The Builder Centre, Mud Scullery, Natural Corner, wood work, water play and sand pit are the back bone to our outdoor classroom, but bikes, bats and balls are out here too.
  • The Quiet Room - The sitting and doing room, teaching early literacy and numeracy skills preparing children for a smooth transition to school.
  • The Messy Play Room - Messy Mornings and Arty Afternoons - sand, water, paint, glue and generally yucky but very creative and expressive
  • The Soft Play Room - soft play shapes, multi gym, music and a huge variety of smaller equipment to encourage balance coordination and rhythm.
  • The Cooking Corner and Family Kitchen - children help prepare the days meals, explore foods using feely trays and make goodies to go home.
